This design was a challenge to retrofit an existing warehouse into a multipurpose building that combines residential and self-storage. The loading ramp gave us access to the lower level for parking and storefront retail with the residential townhouses above. We used a green wall element and roof gardens to emphasize the sustainable influence on the project design. The project also incorporated rainwater run-off and porous paving in the retail parking area. Creating such a diverse economic basis for an adaptive re-use project allowed us the freedom to create a more modern and clean architectural response.
This was a building that gave us an opportunity to create some unique townhouses with some minimal, green design features.
