Press Box Sports Lounge

Press Box Sports Lounge: The client approached us with a space and an Idea. A sports bar with an element of class. A place which women could feel comfortable visiting and a venue one could have a cocktail without being put-off by boisterous hooligans.
We traveled back in sports history to a time when families would crowd around the radio to listen to their favorite announcers call the game. Black and white photos of business men taking in a ball game in shirt and tie and the reporters proudly sporting the press badge in the silk of their hat seemed to capture the essence and nostalgic feel we were looking for.
This imagery set the tone for the material pallet, using raw steel panels around the bar area reminiscent of a grainy film reel and dark stained wood accents suggestive of the pine tar stained bats of the old heroes. Sepia toned photos-graphics are actually used on the entry wall, and storefront glazing to tie together this classic period in time with our modern setting. The space is divided into three areas. The main bar area with stool seating. The open bar area which provides both lounge seating and dining tables. And the “Press Box” which can be closed off with sliding panels and can be reserved for private functions.
We like to think that the customer would appreciate the raw, yet sophisticated, style of a modern sports bar with a vintage feel.
